about us

Hi, I’m Brent Livermore, co-founder of Croc Hockey.

Hockey has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I grew up in Grafton in Northern New South Wales, and like a lot of country kids, I just loved playing sport.

I never imagined back then where hockey would take me.

The game has taken me around the world, introduced me to incredible people, and given me experiences I will always be grateful for. I have been lucky enough to be involved in hockey at nearly every level — from junior hockey, to club hockey, to international competition, and now coaching and mentoring young players.

When you spend that much time in the game, you develop a real feel for it.

You learn what players need.
You learn what helps them improve.
You learn what separates good from great.

That experience has shaped the way I look at hockey equipment.

the problem

Over the years, hockey changed.

Players became faster, stronger, more skilful, and more creative. The modern game started demanding things that were very different from previous generations.

3D skills became more important.
Overheads became a bigger part of the game.
Tommas, spins, quick receiving, and close control became everyday skills.

But in many ways, the equipment did not change enough.

Stick materials improved, but many stick shapes still seemed to follow old ideas. A lot of designs looked different, but did not always feel like they had been properly rethought for the way the modern game is played.

That bothered me.

I had been involved in equipment development with other brands over the years, and I always enjoyed the detail of that process. But the more I looked at modern stick design, the more I felt there was room to do it much better.

the inspiration behind croc

Croc Hockey came from a simple idea.

What would happen if we stopped accepting traditional stick design as the starting point, and instead built a stick around what modern players actually need?

That question became the beginning of Croc.

I wanted to create equipment that was designed properly, made properly, and built to perform. Equipment where every shape, every feature, and every detail had a purpose.

Not just another hockey brand.

A brand created with real care, real experience, and a genuine commitment to making better equipment for players.

One of the first things we looked at was stick width. It surprised me how many sticks were being made narrower than the rules allowed. To me, that did not make sense.

If the rules allow more surface area, and more surface area can help players trap, hit, receive, and control the ball, then why wouldn’t we use it?

That kind of thinking became central to Croc.

Look for the small things other people accept.
Question them.
Improve them.

the design process

Once we committed to building Croc, we knew it had to be done properly.

We looked closely at the way players use the stick in the modern game — not just for hitting and trapping, but for receiving under pressure, controlling the ball in tight spaces, injecting penalty corners, using the backhand, spinning away from defenders, and lifting the ball with confidence.

The head shape became a major focus.

Instead of simply accepting the traditional rounded toe, we worked on creating more usable surface area and a shape that gave players better control in the moments that matter.

We tested different profiles, different shapes, different balance points, different materials, and different levels of stiffness and feel.

We wanted power, but not at the expense of touch.
We wanted control, but not a stick that felt flat or lifeless.
We wanted innovation, but only where it genuinely improved performance.

That process took three years.

There were plenty of prototypes, plenty of changes, and plenty of ideas that did not make it through. But every version taught us something.

Eventually, that work led to the Croc XLB14 — the first stick that truly felt like what we had set out to create.

From there, the range continued to develop, including the MB10, LB12, and XLB12.

don't compromise

Croc Hockey is built on a simple standard.

don’t compromise

That applies to everything we do.

The design has to make sense.
The materials have to perform.
The stick has to feel right.
The product has to be perfect before we put our name on it.

I know how much time and effort players put into their game. Whether they are just starting out, pushing for selection, or competing at the highest level, they deserve equipment that has been properly considered and properly made.

That don't compromise philosophy is what drives Croc Hockey.

No gimmicks.
No shortcuts.
No compromise.
